Off Route 7 in Shelburne, Vermont, the vineyard works with cold climate grapes, making wines and ciders with minimal intervention. Ethan Joseph joined full-time in early 2008, after studying natural resources at the University of Vermont, and later built his own project, Iapetus, alongside the work here. Tyler Mackelvey, who holds a degree in Biotechnology, started his career at Jewell Towne Vineyards in 2015, trained under hybrid grape growing pioneer Peter Oldak, and moved to Shelburne Vineyard in the spring of 2017. The tasting bar is built from wood grown on Shelburne Farms. The Tasting Room spans 806 square feet, holding up to 85 people indoors, while the Loft, at 527 square feet, seats about 24 for dinner. Tents on the lawn extend outdoor capacity to 152.
