About Hillis' Sugarbush Farm and Vineyard
Hillis' Sugarbush Farm and Vineyard began in 1987 on Sugarbush Farm Road near Lake Champlain in Colchester, Vermont. Vineyards arrived in 2007, followed by winery licensing in early 2009 and the first release in early 2010. The operation spans 77 acres across two parcels. Butler Island Vineyard, accessible only by boat, sits on an island in northern Lake Champlain. Jim, the winemaker, holds a professional degree in dairy and food science. Judy manages the vineyard and office. The program grows LaCrescent, Swenson White, Marquette, Vidal Blanc, Marchel Foch, and Traminette.
