About
Salt Mine Vineyards began in 2013 when the Norton family planted five acres in Camp Verde, Arizona. The program grows nine Italian varietals, Primitivo through Barbera, across the property. First limited releases arrived in 2015, 77 cases of Sangiovese and 59 of Malvasia Bianca. The winery and tasting room opened in 2018, the same year the first estate vintage, Malvasia Bianca, was produced. By 2019, the house was making approximately 500 cases annually. Since 2022, the work has drawn 80 percent of grapes from estate vines and 20 percent from Verde Valley AVA, which received its designation as Arizona's third American Viticultural Area in November 2021. The tasting room is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from noon to five.
