About

Five miles inland at 600 feet elevation in Aptos, Rosscienda began with three acres of Pinot Noir planted in 2015, producing its first vintage in 2018. A half acre of Chardonnay followed in 2018, with first release in 2021. Matthew De Silva, who studied biochemistry and computer science at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and spent nearly a decade in Paso Robles working with J. Lohr and E. & J. Gallo, leads the program. Nick Pisano manages the vineyard. Prudy Foxx serves as teacher and consultant. The house produces 400 cases annually. The tasting room opens the first Saturday of every month from 1 to 5 PM, April through November.
