High in the hills of Knights Valley, on the Sonoma side of Mount St. Helena, Peter Michael farms cool mountain blocks to Chardonnay, Cabernet, and Pinot Noir. The wines are made in small lots and sold largely by allocation, and the estate is private rather than open for public tastings. A name to know, and a piece of country worth understanding.
