Nella Terra means Into the Earth in Italian. The winery sits in the Sunol Highlands at 1,100 feet elevation. The Beemiller family has held this property since 1979. Gerry Beemiller founded the winery, and in 2014 it became Nella Terra Cellars Boutique Winery and Event Center, structured as a benefit corporation. The first vines, Pinot Noir and Viognier, went into the ground in 2013. Petite Sirah and Zinfandel followed in 2017. A newer block, planted in 2019, added Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Alvariño, Syrah and more Pinot Noir, building an estate program of 8 varietals. Farming here blends sustainable and organic practices. Production stays just over 500 cases a year. The wines have taken double gold, gold and silver medals at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.
