Matt Morris Wines is located in Calistoga, a historic viticulture area in Napa Valley. The winery was founded by Matt Morris, who is also a talented photographer. His journey into winemaking began after he was inspired by a 1982 Charbono from Francis Ford Coppola's family wine, which rekindled his interest in Napa wines. The first vintage of Matt Morris Wines, a Charbono from Shypoke Vineyard, was produced in 2014.

The winemaking process emphasizes a fresh style, avoiding new French oak barrels and harvesting grapes at moderate ripeness levels. Initially, Benoit Touquette crafted the early vintages, but after a change in winery operations, Francois Peschon took over as winemaker, continuing the focus on fresh, approachable wines.

Matt Morris Wines aims to promote Charbono, a lesser-known varietal in Napa, appealing to consumers looking for alternatives to Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are well-received, with placements in notable restaurants like the French Laundry. The winery sources grapes from Tofanelli and Shypoke Vineyards, contributing to the revival of Charbono in the region.
