The first vintage of Matt Morris Wines, a Charbono from Shypoke Vineyard, was produced in 2014.
The winemaking process emphasizes a fresh style, avoiding new French oak barrels and harvesting grapes at moderate ripeness levels. Initially, Benoit Touquette crafted the early vintages, but after a change in winery operations, Francois Peschon took over as winemaker, continuing the focus on fresh, approachable wines.
Matt Morris Wines aims to promote Charbono, a lesser-known varietal in Napa, appealing to consumers looking for alternatives to Cabernet Sauvignon.
