About
Marmenio is a natural wine producer founded in 2020 by winemaker Matthew Herfort, with its winery in the village of Vardisubani in the Telavi region of Kakheti. The fruit comes from a dry-farmed vineyard in Eniseli, in the Kindzmarauli zone of Kvareli, with 6 hectares planted to Saperavi and 4 to Rkatsiteli and the property progressing towards certified organic. Wines are made in qvevris, clay pots buried in the ground, using manual tools, and since 2020 Marmenio has eliminated added yeasts so that the only addition is low levels of sulfites. Herfort receives visitors at the winery for tastings.
