Margvelidze Winery

About

Margvelidze Winery is a family cellar in the village of Sadmeli, in Ambrolauri municipality in Racha. Gogi Margvelidze reckons he first got involved in winemaking some 50 years ago when he was still a little boy, and the family winery is older still, dating back to when it was run by his father and grandfather; he now operates an old original wine cellar in the yard of his house. For family consumption he produces Kapistoni, Mtsvane and Tsulukidze's Tetra, while the business is dominated by Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli, which serve as a basis for Khvanchkara wine. The cellar welcomes groups of tourists and also operates as a guesthouse.
