Matthias and Lukas took over Karner in 2021. Lukas trained with Mathias & Hannah Hirtzberger in the Wachau and at Dirk Niepoort's Quinta de Napoles in the Douro. Matthias trained at Kellerei Terlan and Van Volxem on the Saar. The program centers on Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Chardonnay, Weißburgunder, Burgunder, and Neuburger. The portfolio includes Grüner Veltliner Rothenbart and Schauberg, Riesling Himmelreich, Sekt Blanc de Blancs, and Pet Nat. Recent recognition includes Vinaria awards for best young winemaker Grüner Veltliner and best Pet Nat of the country.
