About
Derek Mossman Knapp and Pilar Miranda started Garage Wine Co in 2001 making wine in their garage for family and friends. They moved from Maipo to Maule to maintain their small, artisanal production model. Mossman Knapp was drawn to the region for its people and their stories. He later helped found Chile's Independent Winemakers Movement in 2010. The house now exports to 16 countries. Over the past dozen years, the program has turned toward old vines, culminating in the Old-Vine Revival project. Born during the pandemic as a way for local farmers to work without traveling, Revival sources País from neglected vineyards outside the modern market. The 2021 release yielded just over 5,000 bottles. New releases carry QR codes linking to vineyard pictures from six to seven vintages, techsheets, and IGTV videos.
