About
Concha y Toro was founded in 1883 in the Maipo Valley by Melchor Concha y Toro. Today it is the largest wine producer in South America and among the ten largest in the world, represented in over 140 markets. The house oversees 10,550 hectares of vines under the technical direction of chief winemaker Marcelo Papa, producing around 384 million bottles annually. In July 2025, the company inaugurated a new Wine Center spanning more than 12,000 square meters within a 22-hectare park, drawing more than 230,000 visitors in 2024 alone. The Quebrada Seca vineyard in Limarí, 65 hectares divided by two distinct soil types, sits 22 kilometers from the cold Pacific at 190 meters altitude with cool ocean breezes and minimal rainfall of 100 millimeters per year. The 2023 Amelia Chardonnay, made with 10 percent new Chassagne barrels aged for 12 to 13 months in a production of 3,000 cases, was voted White Wine of the Year. The Don Melchor 2021 received 99 points and was named Wine Spectator's Wine of the Year. The company is a Certified B Corporation and the largest wine producer to join the Bottle Weight Accord initiative.
