Club Batonnage

About

Five winemakers established Club Batonnage in 2001 in Illmitz, on the Neusiedlersee. Markus Altenburger, Florian Gayer, Gerhard Kracher, Erich Scheiblhofer, and Christian Tschida shape the program around Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. The house wine, Batonnage, arrives after 24 months in new French oak. Production stays capped at 12 barrels per vintage. Each bottle carries a hand-sprayed red scorpion and a handwritten signature.
