Clearwater Canyon Cellars began in 2004 with 100 cases of Renaissance Red made in a garage in the Lewiston Orchards. Coco, the winemaker, holds a doctorate in wine microbiology from WSU. Karl manages the vineyard. The first grapes from Umiker Vineyard arrived in 2005, Merlot that marked the first vitis vinifera wine grown and produced in the Lewis-Clark Valley since prohibition. The winery moved to the Port of Lewiston in 2007, then to Umiker Vineyard itself in 2016, becoming an estate operation the same year the Lewis-Clark Valley AVA was designated. Coco and Karl bought out their partners in 2010. The program produces Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with Renaissance Red and Coco's Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon among its notable releases. The 2014 Coco's Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon received a Platinum medal in Wine Press Northwest's 2017 judging.
