About Château Puybarbe
Château Puybarbe has stood in Mombrier for centuries, with an engraving documenting its presence from the 15th century. The portfolio centers on Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc, each expression aged in French oak. The 2014 Côtes de Bourg, eighty percent Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and smaller portions of Malbec and Cabernet Franc, spent sixteen to twenty months in barrel and earned Gold at the International Challenge in Bordeaux 2016. The 2015 shifts the blend to fifty-four percent Merlot and forty-two percent Cabernet Sauvignon, aged eighteen months, also taking Gold at the same contest. Le Roc, the medium-bodied secondary expression, is eighty-eight percent Merlot with twelve percent Cabernet Sauvignon, aged ten to twelve months, and won Silver at both Bordeaux 2018 and Concours International de Lyon 2018. A tasting room is available.
