About Château Desmirail
Château Desmirail sits in Margaux-Cantenac, classified as 3rd Grand Cru Classé in 1855. The property takes its name from Jean-Baptiste Desmirail, husband of Marguerite Rauzan du Ribail, the initial owner. An 18th-century chartreuse building anchors the estate, alongside a Médocain gravity-fed vat from the late 19th century, still in excellent condition. For decades, the work has followed reasoned viticulture without chemical herbicides or insecticides, earning Haute Valeur Environnementale certification since vintage 2018. The program vinifies Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit-Verdot, and Cabernet-Franc through approximately three weeks of fermentation and maceration. The chartreuse hosts private and professional events. Visits are open year-round, daily May through October, Monday to Friday November through April, from 9.30 to 12.30 and 14.00 to 18.00.
