About Casto Oaks
Casto Oaks began in 2010 in Mariposa, producing up to 1,200 cases annually across Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé, and Mourvedre. The program employs sustainable farming practices. The 2019 Mourvedre Dessert Wine, sourced from Dalton Ranch in Calaveras County, is fortified with brandy in the Port style, aged 24 months in American oak, and bottled at 18% ABV. Ninety-six cases were produced. The tasting room at 5022 Highway 140 offers complimentary tastings Sunday, Monday, Thursday 12 pm to 4 pm, Friday and Saturday 12 pm to 5 pm, closed Tuesday and Wednesday. A wine club provides 15 to 20% savings on releases. The Winemaker's Cottage, sleeping four, sits ten miles from downtown Mariposa and 41 miles from Yosemite. Annual Winemaker's Dinners are hosted.
