Castello di Monsanto

Castello di Monsanto spreads across 72 hectares in Toscana, dispersed over four vineyards at altitudes between 280 and 320 meters. Fabrizio and Laura Bianchi steward Il Poggio, Scanni, Il Mulino, and Il Salcio. Il Poggio made history as the first Chianti Classico to bear a single vineyard's name. In 1968, white grapes disappeared from its recipe. Fabrizio planted Chardonnay vines in the mid-1970s beyond the Chianti Classico zone. The portfolio includes Sangiovese, Chardonnay, Trebbiano, and Malvasia. The Fabrizio Bianchi Rosato emerges through short maceration, not saignée. La Chimera Vinsanto Occhio di Pernice draws from Sangiovese harvested in October and dried through the following winter. La Chimera Vinsanto, made from Trebbiano and Malvasia, follows the same October harvest and drying arc into early February.
