About
Carlevana Winery was founded in 1959 in the village of Merenii Noi, 25 kilometers from Chișinău. In 2003, it produced Brumăriu, the country's first Ice Wine, harvested from naturally frozen Rhein Riesling grapes at minus four degrees Celsius. The following year came Ambrozia, Moldova's first Botrytis-affected wine. The program spans eight varietals, from Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Malbec. Carlevana remains the only Moldovan producer of Port-style wines, aged three years in oak. The kosher portfolio includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir aged four months in oak, alongside Le Soreq, a Malbec-Merlot blend aged twelve months. The tasting room offers food and outdoor seating.
