About Cantine Sant'Agata

Cantine Sant'Agata takes its name from a votive pillar dedicated to Sant'Agata that stood in front of the family home in Cascine Monterosso-Mezzena. Founded in 1990, the winery came under the stewardship of brothers Franco and Claudio Cavallero in the early 1990s, when they inherited the family agricultural business. Franco Cavallero, born in 1968, has led the program ever since. The house is known for Ruchè, a red wine marked by notes of roses and violets, with contained and non-aggressive acidity. The wines reached Anuga in Cologne in 1993. They landed in America in 1997. By the late 1990s, the portfolio moved more wine to Manhattan than to all of Italy. A fire destroyed the company headquarters in 2007, but the work continued.
