Bollinger

About

Bollinger was founded in 1829 in Aÿ, where two parcels of old vines still grow near the house. The program centers on Pinot Noir, including a 100% Pinot Noir range. La Grande Année 2018 is vinified exclusively in barrels and hand-riddled, hand-disgorged. Vieilles Vignes Françaises 2016 draws from those historic parcels. Bollinger R.D. emerged in 1963 when Madame Bollinger decided to market Reserve 1947. Officially named in 1967, it launched across three markets simultaneously, with three different vintages. The house matures R.D. more than four times longer than appellation rules require. Le Nouveau Cellier, a new production facility, was designed as a cathedral-like cellar overlooking the vineyards. A tasting room is open to visitors.
