About Baxter's Vineyards
Emile and Annette Baxter planted the first vines here in 1857. Now Kelly Logan, the fifth generation of Baxters, tends 16 acres with thirteen grape varieties harvested each year. The program produces around 1,000 cases annually, including Concord and Norton, the latter bottled as Classic Norton Wine and under the Baxter's Old Nauvoo Brand label. Illinois' oldest winery remains family-owned across five generations. The Wine Barrel, a neighborhood bar, sits across the patio from the tasting room.
