David Spies trained at Geisenheim and apprenticed under established Pfalz producers before winning a European professional winemaking competition in 2011. He joined the family operation in 2014, and the winery took his name in 2018. Carolin Spies has been significantly involved in the winery since 2020, working alongside Uwe Spies.
