Witwe Dr. H. Thanisch Erben Müller-Burggraef carries a wine tradition stretching over 375 years in Bernkastel-Kues-Andel. The family acquired the Doctorweinberg vineyard in the early 19th century. Dr. Hugo Thanisch's widow inherited the winery at 28, and under Napoleonic law the estate divided between her two daughters. Today the program manages 16 hectares of steep Riesling vineyards. The cellar itself, over 350 years old, holds temperatures between 8 and 9 degrees Celsius. The portfolio spans Berncasteler Doctor, Graben, Lay, Badstube, and Trockenbeerenauslese expressions. A 1921 Berncasteler Doctor Trockenbeerenauslese sold for 11,200 Mark at auction in 1986 and remains in the cellar's treasure chamber. A new winery building was erected in 2015.
