Dry Creek Valley
Amista Vineyards is woman-led and farms its estate organically, Rhône varieties and sparkling made on the property. Baca Wines pours Zinfandel in a room hung with a working art collection. F. Teldeschi Winery has farmed the same ground since Frank Teldeschi arrived from Italy in 1929, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Carignane. Kokomo Winery works more than a dozen varietals pulled from Russian River, Dry Creek, and Alexander Valley. Gondak Cellars stays small on purpose, Will Gondak keeping the handling light so single vineyards carry the wine.
32 Winds sits down a dirt road behind eight acres of vines and olive trees. Appointment only, which suits a dog that does better without a crowd.

Ridgelines and town
deLorimier Winery pours single-vineyard wines onto a back patio built for staying put. Aldina Vineyards is up on a Mayacamas ridgeline, a family tribute built around Cabernet Sauvignon.
Back in town, Marietta Cellars looks over Healdsburg Plaza, family-owned since 1978, with a range that runs from single-vineyard reds to lighter small-batch bottles. Banshee Wines has been working the Western Sonoma Coast for Pinot Noir since 2009.
