Villa Matilde was founded in 1965 by Francesco Paolo Avallone, an attorney and wine enthusiast who revived Falerno, a wine that had vanished for centuries. The winery produces this wine from vineyards at the foothills of the Roccamonfina volcano, with additional holdings in the hills of Sannio and the heights of Irpinia. Francesco Paolo Avallone is the winemaker. Food is served at the estate, and dogs are welcome.
