About Piewald

Piewald began in 2005 in Spitz, in the Wachau. The winemaker trained under Franz Hirtzberger between 1993 and 1996, then worked at Spitzer Lagerhaus, a center for agricultural products. The philosophy centers on long vegetation periods, allowing grapes to accumulate aromas and extracts. Harvest decisions come from tasting fruit, not sugar numbers alone. The priority is perfect acid-sugar balance and good acidity levels. Vacation apartments are available.
