About Weingut Michael Franzen

Michael Franzen took over his family's winery in 1995 and has worked alongside Christian Stück, who is gradually assuming leadership of the business. Two and a half hectares of vineyard sit on Bremmer Calmont, the steepest vineyard in Europe, where slopes exceed 68 degrees. Some vines there are over 80 years old. The winery produces Riesling from this terrain. At the Calmont summit, Weinschänke Gipfelkreuz, a wine tavern operated by the winery, opens Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and bridge days from 10 to 18 hours.
