Founded in 1970, Yankee Hill is the oldest winery in the Sierra Foothills, located in the historic gold rush town of Columbia, California. Ron Erickson is the winemaker. Since 1995, the house has run a cooking school, with classes scheduled almost every Saturday morning. Recipes use no more than seven ingredients. Erickson recently spent time in Europe with cooks and bakers. Classes require a minimum of sixteen participants at forty-five dollars per person.
