About
Dan Murphy spent a decade running a mobile wine bottling business in California before establishing White Raven in Columbia Falls, Montana in 2021. The property sits near the base of Columbia Mountain, minutes from Glacier National Park's west entrance. The vineyard itself, five miles south, sits at 3,390 feet of elevation on loamy sand soil. Vitis Riparia vines endure temperatures of -30 to -35 degrees Fahrenheit through winters that deliver 57 inches of snow and 18 inches of rain annually. The growing season runs late April through mid-to-late October harvest. Murphy makes all wines on-site, drawing mostly on Montana grapes to produce Marquette, Sabrevois, Brianna, Somerset, and Petite Pearl. The tasting room and cellar operate with food available.
