About
Gordon Cantrell discovered winemaking in 1997 and planted three acres on the northeast corner of Camp Point in 2001, launching The Village Vineyard & Winery with his wife Brenda. The program spans nine varietals, from Corot Noir and Norton to Chardonel, Traminette, and Edelweiss. The tasting room opens Friday evenings from 5pm to 10pm, with food until 8.30pm, and Saturday afternoons from 1pm to 10pm, food service from 5pm to 8.30pm. Gordon chairs South Central IGGVA and the winery holds membership in both WIGPAC and the Illinois Grape Growers and Vintners Association. A tiered Case Club rewards loyalty, offering 10 percent off the first case, 15 percent off the second, and 20 percent off the third and beyond.
