About Star of Greece
Reservations required · Open Wednesday to Sunday, 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, closed Monday and Tuesday
With decades of experience drinking wine, making wine and connecting with winemakers and critics, Doug Govan is passionate about everything wine. He knows a delicious drop, his cellars at sister-restaurant, The Victory Hotel, well known both near and far. Needless to say, the wine list at the smaller space by the sea is just as carefully curated. Atop the spectacular Port Willunga (‘Willy’) clifftops, the Star of Greece has been a staple in South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula for over 20 years. Named Star of Greece after a ship which sunk in the waters just out front of the restaurant in 1888, the little seaman’s cottage has undergone a number of makeovers over the years. We like pretty food and fancy settings, but most of all, we like good food and friendly, reliable service (the kind that makes you want to be pals with us). We welcome the thong (flip flops for those playing over the pond), the bathers under the sarong, the ball-gown, the suit and everything in between.
