About

Uwe Schiefer founded Schiefer.pur in 1990 after years working as sommelier in Vienna's finest restaurants, including Steirereck. He studied at the wine academy in Rust before establishing his 10-hectare vineyard in Eisenberg. The program centers on red varieties, predominantly Blaufränkisch with Pinot Noir and Merlot, alongside Welschriesling, Grüner Veltliner, and Weißburgunder. Schiefer practices natural, purist winemaking with spontaneous fermentation and slow maturation in barrels of various sizes. Visits are by telephone appointment only. The Grand Reserve Club limits membership to 15.
