About Schalkenbosch Wine Estate & Accommodation - Tulbagh
Schalkenbosch Wine Estate was established in the mid to late 1700s and features a Cape Dutch main house completed in 1792, now a national monument. Located in Tulbagh in the Western Cape, the estate produces quality wines from vineyards high on the Witzenberg mountain slopes overlooking the picturesque valley, with wines mostly exported to German and Swedish markets.

Vineyard Tours
A walk through the vineyards provides magnificent views of the valley with opportunities to watch circling birds of prey and observe wildlife including bat-eared foxes, leopard, rooikat, and endangered geometric tortoises.
Mountain Biking
Schalkenbosch hosts stages of National and International mountain bike races including the Annual MTN Tulbagh Mountain Bike Race and the internationally renowned ABSA Cape Epic. Access available via permit from Shell garage in town.
