Founded in 1889, San Diego Cellars stands among California's oldest continuously operating wineries. The Rizzo Family has owned and operated the winery since 1927. The winery sits 25 miles north of Downtown San Diego on land once part of the La Cañada de San Bernardo Spanish land grant. During Prohibition, the winery survived by producing sacramental wine. Today the winery produces wines from San Diego County wine grapes. The tasting room and Kitchen open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 to 8, Sundays 11 to 6, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. The Kitchen serves classic Sicilian and Old California fare, housemade pastas, fresh salads, and wood-fired pizza. The AMICI Wine Club is available for members.
