About
A fortress built in the Lombard era, Rocca di Montegrossi stands near Monti in Chianti, south of Gaiole. The stronghold served as an imperial seat under Frederick II. Marco Ricasoli Firidolfi, a descendant of Bettino Ricasoli, leads the winery today. The cellar produces Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Pugnitello, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon into two Chianti Classico wines. A Canaiolo vineyard planted in 2000 draws from the estate's oldest vines. The winery combines traditional technique with modern technology. Solar panels and photovoltaic systems power the operation, with 100% Clean Energy certification. An agriturismo offers farm stay accommodation.
