About
Two estate vineyards, Twin Hills and Mancini Ranch, hold 24 acres of vines across Western Sonoma County. Founded in 2014, Reichwage Winery grows, produces, and bottles Pinot Noir and Zinfandel made in a classical style. Max Reichwage, proprietor and winemaker, studied Viticulture and Enology in graduate work at the University of California Davis, then gained winemaking experience in Napa, Emilia-Romagna, Sonoma, Tasmania, and Burgundy before starting the winery. His research on extraction in red wine fermentations appeared in the American Journal of Enology and Viticulture in 2015 and 2017. About half the fruit is sold to other winemakers, including Carlisle Winery, Littorai Wines, Peay Vineyards, Radio Coteau, Ridge Vineyards, and Syntropy Wines, a practice that helps cover farming costs. The winery itself was completed in August 2019, and since then Reichwage has grown, produced, and bottled its wine there. Production runs about 2000 cases a year.
