About Paydirt
Paydirt's 'Going for Broke' California Red Wine draws from vineyards across Paso Robles and beyond. The 2019 vintage blends Zinfandel at its core with Primitivo, Petite Sirah, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Fruit was hand harvested between August 31st and October 13th, fully sorted and de-stemmed before spending 20 days on skins with frequent punch downs. The wine aged 12 months in mostly neutral French oak, bottled in March 2021 at 14.8% alcohol. Sources range from a 2-acre block of Dusi Clone Zinfandel planted in 2014 at J. Dusi Estate Vineyard to Paper Street Vineyard, planted in 2013, and 20 acres of Primitivo at Lewis Ranches in Victor. Dairy Vineyard, planted on its own rootstock in 1902, rounds out the sourcing. 6,100 cases produced.
