Paul J Wines operates from Plymouth in Amador County, drawing fruit from Fox Creek Vineyards and across California. The portfolio spans Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Barbera, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Portuguese and South American varietals. The 2023 Chardonnay ferments entirely in new French oak, grapes sourced from Mendocino and Clarksburg. The 2020 Zinfandel pulls from 85-year-old vines at Fox Creek. Two named blends anchor the program. Camille's Red Blend, a 50/50 Tinta Cao and Souzao, honors Paul's daughter. Kayce Calvin Red, a Zinfandel, Tannat, Malbec, and Petite Sirah blend, celebrates Paul's grandson and his friend. The tasting room, built from local cedar, pine, and corrugated metal, opens Thursday through Monday, 10.30 AM to 5.00 PM.
