About Luna Vineyards
Luna Vineyards, founded in 2001 by Paolo and Sylvia D'Andrea, sits in the Mimbres Valley near Deming. The name means Red Moon. Paolo arrived in the United States in 1986 carrying four generations of Italian winemaking heritage from Friuli, northeast Italy, and formal training in viticulture and vine grafting from Spilimbergo. The program specializes in Italian varietals, all produced exclusively from grapes grown in their own vineyards. Lower yields maintain high quality. The valley's pronounced diurnal shifts add complexity to the wines. Aged expressions rest in medium toast French and American oak. The house produces approximately 8,000 cases annually. A second tasting room operates in Mesilla, and Luna Rossa Winery & Pizzeria opened in Las Cruces in 2011.
