Luddite Wine Farm is a small, family-run winery in the Bot River Valley founded by Niels and Penny Verburg, who returned to South Africa in 1995 after Niels worked as a flying winemaker across France, Chile, New Zealand, Australia, and Greece. The winery is now run by Niels alongside his daughter Alice, focusing on passionate, traditional winemaking methods that prioritize quality fruit and natural fermentation over modern technology. Their philosophy is that technology and mechanization will never be a substitute for passion.
