San Lorenzo, New Mexico. David and Esperanza Gurule tend vineyards on land homesteaded in 1906 by Don Antonio De La O. David retired from atomic energy engineering at Los Alamos in 2002. Esperanza shifted from caretaker to vintner. The program produces Golden Muscat, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chardonnay, and Rosé, alongside a wine called Born In Space. The tasting room opens Friday through Sunday, noon to six. The house offers ten percent off a six-pack, twenty percent off a case.
