About Kirkwood Winery
Kirkwood Winery was founded in 1984 as the first vineyard in Nicholas County and the region. Located three miles north of Summersville, the original vineyard was lost to harsh winters and drought, then replanted and expanded. The winery now produces over 10,000 gallons of wine annually. An associated distillery operates nearby. Kirkwood hosts the annual Grape Stompin' Festival each September, with the 35th edition scheduled for September 18-19, 2026. A country store stocks West Virginia-made products, from jams and jellies to handcrafted baskets and candles. Wine is available online.
