About Hospices de Beaune

Founded in 1443 by Nicolas Rolin, chancellor of the dukes of Burgundy, and his third wife Guigone de Salins, the Hospices de Beaune features polychrome roofs in glazed terracotta. Inside hangs Rogier van der Weyden's polyptych 'Last Judgment'. The institution operated as a hospital until 1971. The wine auction of the Hospices de Beaune domain was established in the 19th century. Open daily from 9am to 7.30pm.
