Guy Drew Vineyards

About

Guy Drew and Ruth left Denver's corporate world in 1998 to build something from scratch in McElmo Canyon, southwest of Cortez. One hundred fifty-five acres. A pueblo-style straw bale winery, 2,500 square feet, rose first. Vineyard construction began early 1999. By 2000 they held their Colorado license. The program expanded with a covered crush pad and barrel storage, then a bottling line in early 2003 capable of twenty-four bottles per minute, fitted for both cork and screw cap closures. The tasting room opens daily from noon to five. A second location operates through a partnership with Mesa Indian Trading Company & Gallery at 27601 E. Highway 160 in Cortez.
