About
It started in a basement. Wil made wine there before any vines existed, before there was land to grow them on. In 2013 he bought a house on 6.5 acres of sandy, gravely soil on the outskirts of Grand Haven, and between 2014 and 2015 planted five different grape varieties. Between 2019 and 2022, several varieties came out, replaced by more cold-hardy stock. Township and state approval began in 2021, construction in 2022, and the doors opened in the fall of 2023. It is the only Grand Haven winery with a full production vineyard onsite, farmed without herbicides, restricted-use pesticides, or chemical fertilizers, using regenerative practices and sustainably produced, low-carbon natural corks. The tasting room sits between downtown Grand Haven and Allendale, open Fridays and Saturdays, 1 to 8pm.
