Casa Piena

About

Casa Piena, meaning "Full House" in Italian, is a Napa Valley winery established by Carmen Policy and his wife, Gail. Carmen, known for his role with the San Francisco 49ers, developed a passion for wine while living in Northern California. The winery is located in Yountville on a 14-acre vineyard, primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and a small block of Cabernet Franc. The vineyard, previously owned by Peter Mondavi, was planted from scratch in 2003, allowing for tailored vineyard management.

In 2019, the vineyard was sold to Donna Walker and Mark Pulido, but Casa Piena continues to source grapes from the same estate. Winemaker Thomas Brown, known for his expertise and sought-after services in Napa, collaborates closely with vineyard manager Jim Barbour to create elegant wines that pair well with food.

Casa Piena focuses on producing high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon, with a total production of around 400 cases annually. Tastings are available by appointment at Mending Wall and Bottega Restaurant, featuring a seasonal menu. The winery emphasizes a family-oriented approach, reflected in its name and the wines it produces.
