About Cantina Vecchia Torre
Cantina Vecchia Torre began in 1959 when 44 farmers from Leverano formed a cooperative. Today, approximately 1,100 members tend 1,500 hectares of vineyards across Salice Salentino, producing 3,500,000 bottles and 90,000 hectoliters annually. The program works with Negroamaro, Primitivo, Malvasia, Chardonnay, and Vermentino. Direct bottling started in 1974. Dr. Enio Cagnazzo joined as enologist in 1990. Under Antonio Tumolo's presidency from 2003, the house expanded to Europe, the United States, China, and Japan. A new bottling facility and retail point opened in Leverano in 2013, followed by a Brindisi location in 2018. Reserve wines age in French barriques, with a renovated and expanded barrel facility completed in 2019.
