About CA' DEL BAIO di Grasso Giulio Società Semplice Agricola
Treiso, bordering Barbaresco, close to Neive. The Grasso family has run the estate for four generations. In 1870 Giuseppe Grasso moved from Calosso to Treiso and bought the Cascina Vallegranda. In 1921 Luigi Grasso planted the first vine cuttings on the family's Treiso land. In 1965 Ernesto Grasso first vinified the Vallegrande zone grapes separately. In 1988 the winery first vinified the Asili zone grapes in-house, and in 2004 the Pora vineyard grapes were vinified separately for the first time. In 2008 Giulio Grasso planted the winery's first Riesling Renano vineyard, and in 2016 he was named Miglior Viticoltore dell'anno by the Guida Vini d'Italia of Gambero Rosso. Today the estate runs on 31 hectares across Barbaresco, Treiso and Trezzo Tinella, worked by Giulio and Luciana Grasso alongside their daughters Paola, Valentina and Federica. Every wine is estate-grown and single-varietal, built from Nebbiolo vines between 25 and 40 years old across the crus of Asili, Pora, Vallegrande and Marcarini.
