About Bodegas Carrau
The Carrau family's winemaking lineage traces to Catalonia in 1752, when Don Francisco Carrau Vehils acquired the first vineyard in Vilasar de Mar. That legacy arrived in Montevideo in 1976 with the founding of Bodegas Carrau. The winery itself occupies a building constructed in 1887, eighteen kilometers from downtown. The program spans Casa de Varzi, Cepas Nobles, Reservas, Colección Barricas, Grandes Reservas, and Espumosos. Guided tours run Monday through Friday at 10 am or 2 pm by reservation. Group lunches for ten or more guests are available the same days, also by advance arrangement.
